Filmed during the 1980 and 1981 Formula One Grand Prix racing seasons John Jopson’s “gasoline” premiered at the Rialto Theatre in Montreal on June 15, 1984 as part of the Montreal Grand Prix Tribute to Gilles Villeneuve.

The film went into general release in cinemas throughout Europe, and special screenings were organised to coincide with Grand Prix weekends for the remainder of the 1984 racing season.
